Bush Kindy Program – Learning in Nature
At CCPS Little Learners, our Bush Kindy program is an integral part of our curriculum, giving children opportunities to connect with nature within our school grounds. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we see the environment as a “third teacher,” where outdoor spaces become engaging classrooms for hands-on learning.
Children are encouraged to explore natural elements, build confidence through safe challenges, engage in creative play, and develop problem-solving skills. Activities include nature walks, gardening, and sensory exploration, allowing children to learn at their own pace.
Bush Kindy supports health and wellbeing by promoting physical activity, resilience, and emotional regulation. Educators guide learning through observation and intentional teaching.
We also honour the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara people, embedding respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Through Bush Kindy, children develop confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong connection to nature.
