Our next new building is the Multi-purpose Hall (MPH) which will be located alongside our Sports Field, facing eastwards across the grassy playing surface. It is designed to be our undercover sports courts, with Volleyball, Basketball, and Netball, as well as changing and amenities rooms. Our John Newcombe Tennis Courts, opened by the great man in 2008, will continue to serve as a second outdoor sports facility in their current location. The new MPH will also have a stage for School Assemblies, and it can also host Speech Nights, School Musicals, and various community presentations with the latest audio-visual, and staging technologies. No doubt in years to come our Drama classes will be enjoying this for their performances and preparations. Music practice rooms with contemporary acoustic details, and Drama classroom, will be alongside the Teachers’ room overlooking the courts. There will also be a kitchen for serving refreshments to guests who are utilising the east facing and undercover verandah that overlook the playing field to be brushed by the north-easterly seabreezes. Work continues from the School’s Building Committee behind the scenes with our Project Manager, Builder and Engineer to create a facility which will be enjoyed by all in our community with its broad range of features, in tightly controlled fiscal planning. Detailed planning and communications perhaps frustratingly take time, and even though the soil has not yet been excavated, it is full steam shovels ahead for a 2017 grand opening. Significant state and federal government grant monies have been confirmed for this exciting project that will assist our students’ sports and creative arts performances, as well as contributing to our School community’s prestigious gatherings. It is an exciting time to be at CCPS, and I am looking forward to 2017!
