Changes The Federal Election brought close to 2000 people to vote at CCPS on Saturday in a great result for democracy in action, and for our School. Voters were pleased to come in to see the Raelene Boyle Hall, and enjoy our campus. They were also treated to the delights of our P&F’s hospitality with delicacies and hungry voter refreshments on sale in our Canteen, including the newly coined term, for the ‘Democracy Sausage’. Our beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables from our Permaculture Garden were sold by Yr 6 students, Elizabeth Pride and Sophie Spiclin. Voters were also greeted by Yr 9’s Layla Bosomworth who answered questions about the School, and gave voters guidance for their task of voting. I once again thank our wonderful Parents and Friends, and also our three students, for their work in promoting our School with warmth and vibrancy, and assisting with our community. In staffing news, Ms Stuart completed her wonderful decade long career at CCPS on Monday with a Whole School Assembly, which was a little less formal than our usual fortnightly experience there. It was a poignant final day for all, especially for our popular Head of Senior School. It is difficult to comprehend the stresses that complement these school leadership positions that are about serving our community. Thank you to Alec Latham (Yr 12) for accompanying Elizabeth Pride (Yr 6) and Ruby Pederson (Yr 5) who led a School farewell song for Ms Stuart. I sincerely thank Ms Stuart for her pride in serving our School for so long and so well. Dr McMahon commenced as Head of Senior School on Tuesday whilst continuing to teach subject HPE and also promoting our Outdoor Education character learning for the students. Ms Georgina Goodwin will continue her teaching of Film TV and New Media, and JS HPE program and extended into the Years 7 and 8 HPE classes. She will also be assisting in the organisation of our sports activities, from Dr McMahon. Ms Stuart’s Visual Art subject classes, as previously noted, will be taught by the highly experienced former Head of Subject, Mrs Hatcher, who will also take the new Year 11 Design subject, from Mr Pederson. Students will enjoy her expertise in design, her organisation and her experienced leadership in Visual Art. These changes may be challenging but new people bring new enthusiasms and fresh outlooks, and we look forward to the coming term’s learning. Dr Dirk Wellham – Principal
