“Thank you for a fantastic Swimming Carnival yesterday. It was such a happy day filled with fun, the spirit of participation, healthy competition and achieving personal goals.” This was a parent’s summary of our Swimming Carnival but it tells much about the School’s goals of Excellence and Learning. Student participation is the best way for all to learn, from experience. Teaching Year 3 in Friday afternoon Sport, I see the joy of learning on faces when a new skill is gained or improvement is made for a child (That is the same for adults’ learning as well as children). The physicality of movement is something most in my generation possibly take for granted as usual. For our youngest children, some seem to be surprisingly inexperienced in physical games, and in ball sports.
