Following the success of the April holiday’s Academicus Online programs, and building on the tradition of excellent quality holiday programs made available in conjunction with Central Queensland University, BRAINways EDUCATION invites gifted and talented students to participate in the Academicus programs. Below is a list of workshops being offered during our next school holidays: Years 7 to 10: Another Brick in the Wall: The Mathematics of Conformity The Chemistry in a Prescription: The Analgesics Rewiring the Brain? Health and Physical Education Term 2 Assessments Like all departments at CCPS, the HPE department has adjusted the assessments that we are asking the students to complete this term.  All Years 7 – 10 students have undertaken a fitness program; one we wrote for Year 7 and 8 students and ones the students wrote for themselves, in consultation with the staff, for Year 9 and 10 students.  The student’s fitness itself will not be assessed, but rather their reflections and feedback from week to week.  Year 9 and 10 students have also been requested to put together a short video of them completing the various programs they wrote.  If all students do return on 25 May, only one practical and one theory assessment will be required by all Year 7 – 10 students in HPE. Table Tennis Tables Needed In Term Three, the department is hoping to run Table Tennis as an option sport in Year 9 HPE, but we have a problem.  Currently, we only have two table tennis tables for the students to use.  Table tennis is in the top five most popular sports in the world to played at home.  Many of us might have table tennis tables not being used at home. If you have a table tennis table that we could borrow or purchase cheaply, would you be able to contact Peter McMahon 0448 277 789 as soon as possible.
